Swimming is a fantastic sport that combines all body strength, flexibility and endurance.
Swimmers are unfortunately prone to overuse injuries affecting the shoulder, neck, lower back and knees.
Prevention is the Key!
It has been shown that advanced core control, scapular control and rotator cuff strength are three essential qualities the injury-free swimmer possesses. There are, of course, numerous other causes of injury including technique, endurance, fatigue and flexibility to name just a few.
Your injury rehabilitation should be a combined effort between your coach, physiotherapist and remedial massage therapist.
